The Guide

About Hair Color LA

An independent comparison and review site for hair color in Greater Los Angeles. No booking service, no affiliate links, no salon affiliation.

Why We Exist

Honest rankings.
No conflicts.

Finding the right hair colorist in Los Angeles is harder than it should be. The market is large, prices vary widely, and most of what's written about salons is marketing copy. We built this to cut through that. Six criteria, applied consistently, with no stake in who you book.

How We Work

Our Editorial Standards

Every studio in our ranked list is evaluated on six criteria: color skill (30%), consultation quality (20%), the grow-out (20%), hair health (15%), value relative to the LA market (10%), and the room - meaning booking transparency and in-salon experience (5%). The weights reflect what actually matters for a client making a real color decision, not what sounds impressive in a methodology statement.

We are not an affiliate of any studio on this list. We do not receive payment for rankings, placement, or traffic referrals. We do not use referral tracking links. Revenue from this site, if any, does not depend on whether you book with any studio we cover. This is non-negotiable - it's the only way the rankings mean anything.

Rankings and studio assessments are based on publicly available information, professional knowledge of the hair color industry, and consistent application of the same methodology across all evaluated studios. Claims that cannot be verified are not made.

Studio details, pricing, and availability are set by the studios themselves and are subject to change. If you find outdated information, the contact page is the right place to tell us.

Hair Color LA is not a salon, not a colorist, and not a hair service provider. We do not offer appointments, consultations, or bookings of any kind. All links to studios are direct and non-affiliate. We are an independent review and comparison resource.
