Our Assessment of Dr. Hair
Dr. Hair fills a gap that the other studios on this list do not really address: what happens when the hair itself is the problem. The Koreatown location brings in a clientele with a genuinely wide range of natural bases, textures, and processing histories - including a lot of hair that has been through bleach overlaps, uneven lifts, and previous corrections that did not go as planned. The team handles these cases as a specialty, not as an exception. That focus shows in the outcomes for clients whose hair health needs to be treated as a real variable rather than something to work around.
The consultation here is the most clinically honest pre-service conversation most clients will have had. The colorist tells you what the hair can actually support right now, what each session is going to deliver, and roughly how many sessions stand between your current situation and your goal. When the honest answer is that the goal needs more time than the client wants to spend, they say that. That kind of clarity is genuinely uncommon in the LA color market, where the incentive is usually to start the work and figure it out session by session.
Dr. Hair is the right choice when another colorist has told you your hair is too compromised to achieve what you want, when a previous correction left you somewhere worse than where you started, or when the health of your hair matters as much as the color result. The approach is more conservative than studios focused on visual impact, and the sessions can feel slower. But for hair that has been through a lot, slower is usually what actually works.
